This award was open to businesses under three years of age. It has been created to encourage and reward successful new businesses. They have demonstrated success against their initial business plan whilst developing a clear commercial understanding of their products, competitors and marketplace.

This award was designed to recognise and celebrate the fact that profit and social objectives can make a winning combination. The short-listed finalists have all provided strong evidence that they offer imaginative, entrepreneurial, sustainable businesses that meet real social objectives and help change peoples lives.

Innovation isn’t just about technology, it can include the type of product or service you sell and the way you deliver it to market. Our short-listed finalists have all transformed the way they do business through innovation, going to extreme lengths to create energy and buzz in their business and customer base by introducing radical new processes and customer service to achieve success.
Fastest Growing Business 2008

This award was for businesses that have had a bumper year, outstripping all projected targets and growth expectations.
The short-listed finalists had all significantly exceeded their business plan expectations either in terms of increased profitability, turnover or market share and truly reflect the growing enterprise culture within the region.
Business of the Year 2008
Supported by Business Link Yorkshire

The final accolade went to the winning finalist that demonstrated that their business contribution delivered the most extraordinary and measurable benefit to the local community and wider economy. In addition to the award of Business of the Year the winner also received a further cheque for £2,000 and business mentoring from Business Link Yorkshire.
Entrepreneur of the Year 2007

The final accolade was for the short-listed finalist that demonstrated that their business contribution delivered the most extraordinary and measurable benefit to the local community and wider economy. In addition to the award of Best Entrepreneur the winner also received a cheque for £2,500.
